Will it ever rain in the Land: Niyi Aborisade
Cloudy was the early morning sky;
Very windy and away their mourning of the drought
Hope filled the land,
Dreams of rainfall pervade the land
Thirsty years likely to become history in the land
Near is the expected rain
Passed away, many years of drought.
Jubilation fills the heart of a lot
Even the birds of the air choruses it
Monkeys are jumping from tree to tree for it
Falling and rising were the trees in the forest
Will it rain
Years have passed and many know not what rain is
Before civilisation kicked us in the face
There was a rain maker and his group,
That was the time before the coup
By his wisdom he rained in the land of his people
But decided he, to rain in the land of all people
Eh, betrayed by one of his people,
Set back to his people.
The sound of rain belongs to a distant land;
The soothing sound is no longer heard in their own land;
The eyes of the young have never seen the wet earth,
Neither do they understand the smell of rain.
Their world is not renewed cause there is no drop of rain
Ancient time before this rain maker was born
Was a man of immense power
Mighty power to make rain
Before stepping out after he invoked rain
Sacrifice of ram must be made
One day, betrayed by his own people
Loose was the ram before stepping out
Death wasted no time,
Then there was drought in time.
Cometh he another one to make rain,
The tribe of the makers of rain
Gathers the cloud again
Fire was made to invoke rain
But how can he use fire to make rain
Did he learn his trade on rain;
Now burning out of control was the fire
The cloud is now disappearing
This is not how to make rain
Away with all the buckets to gather rain
Hot and untouchable were the buckets
Dried leaves were dropping from the trees as the roots were not watered by rain
Cries of the Monkeys were heard afar in the night
Ikudaisi is sleeping away the night.
Fresh hopes gave that did not blossom from day to night.
The choruses of the birds were heard no more,
Dreams became nightmare
The supposed rainmaker has rain stopped by force.
Many bats are crossing over ;
Their beaks to wet if possible, for the rain stopper has some water
When thirsty are the majority.
Precious gift of rain,
And the treasure rare is not seen again.
Minds are no longer clear,
Fears are no longer washed away,
Peace is very far away
Nothing compared with a moment of peace
Ahhh, the betrayed rainmaker, come back and bring rain;
Your people are thirsty and dying
How long will it take for those you taught to make rain.
You promised to continue to serve
Why is then no rain again;
Will it ever rain again;
Come ye together all ye the disciples of the rainmaker,
And there will be rain in the land
